If you are having trouble starting your Kombi there is a good chance your starter motor is faulty. A weak starter motor usually presents with the same symptoms as a flat battery. To check your starter motor operation you should remove it from the vehicle and jump it directly to a known good battery and observe both the operation of the solenoid and the speed at which the motor spins.
This starter motor is a brand new unit from our suppliers in Europe. Due to improvements in technology since the 70's these are smaller yet more powerful than the original unit. You must replace the armature bush in the gearbox when fitting a new starter motor as an old and worn bush will lead to premature failure of the starter motor and will also void the warranty.
We also offer the option to return your existing starter motor for a $50 credit. If you would like to do this, please advise when ordering and we will include an Australia post pre-paid satchel. The $50 credit will be refunded on receipt of your old starter.
Fitting: This starter motor is designed to fit an original 2 litre baywindow Kombi with a 2 litre gearbox. Given that many Kombis have had engine exchanges and gearbox swaps it can be difficult to ascertain which is the correct part for your vehicle. If you are unsure please message first as we cannot provide a full refund where you have ordered the incorrect part.
